WPI Tops Salem State 3-1

SALEM, MASS. –  Darcy McDowell (Goshen, N.Y.) had eight kills and 12 digs and Brynn O'Neill (Danvers, Mass.) added six kills as Salem State lost in four sets to WPI on Saturday afternoon at Harrington Auditorium. The Vikings are now 4-4 on the season while the Engineers improve to 8-2.

WPI won the first set easily 25-9 before taking set two, 25-18. Salem State rebounded with a 25-21 victory in the third set as the Vikings took advantage of multiple errors by WPI late to secure a four-point win. Salem State managed just six kills in the fourth set on 30 attempts as the Engineers hit .333% to claim a 25-17 win.

Morgan Adams (Scotia, N.Y.) finished with a team-high 23 assists while Sara Corey (Whately, Mass.) and Samantha Chaisson (Duxbury, Mass.) added eight digs each.

Colleen Mullins (Andover, Mass.) and Sarah Kwatinetz (Seattle, Wash.) had 10 kills apiece for WPI. Azita Bakhtyar (Andover, Mass.) contributed 31 assists and Victoria Nassar  (Atkinson, N.H.) had 14 digs.
