THE LEAD— Thanks to three different goal scorers, the Salem State women's soccer team capped off its home portion of the 2025 schedule with a 3-1 win versus Fisher College.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Nearly midway through the first (23:52), Fisher got the scoring started after Doha Marbouh corralled a lead pass from Lea Bjorkhagen that allowed her to get a shot past Ava Guyer (East Granby, Conn.) for a quick 1-0 lead.
  • Later in the frame, the Vikings pulled even thanks to an Anna Frost (Ada, Mich.) score at 39:13. Tatianna Lazo (Lynn, Mass.) tapped the ball over to Frost a little in front of the box, and she rifled in a shot past the outstretched arm of Cefeldalina Molina Lara in the right corner. Salem had multiple chances to pull ahead before the half but could not find the back of the net and went into halftime tied at one.
  • Early in the second half, Salem grabbed its first lead at 47:03 when Frost pushed ahead a pass to a running Krysta Zamejtis (Danvers, Mass.) inside the goalie box. Once she corralled the ball, she put her shot past a sliding Molina Lara in the upper left corner, which made it 2-1.
  • As the game went on, Salem tacked on an insurance goal courtesy of Samarah Paiva (Revere, Mass.), who pushed the ball from nearly midfield into the box, where she sent her shot past Molina Lara's right side and made it 3-1. From then on, Salem's defense held firm and secured a 3-1 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Frost's score is her second of the year and has now tied her career-high.
  • Zamejtis' goal now has her tied for the team lead with four. Meanwhile, Paiva's score is her first of the year.
  • Lazo's assist is the first in her collegiate career.
  • Ava Guyer (East Granby, Conn.) had a quiet night in net, making only one stop.
  • Salem outshot Fisher by a 35-2 margin. The 35 shots marked a new season-high and are the sixth most in a single game in program history.
  • The Vikings also had the advantage in corner kicks, 4-0.
  • The Blue and Orange finished the 2025 season at home with a 6-2-1 record. It is their most home wins since 2017, when the team also had six home victories.
