THE LEAD
The Salem State Vikings split a doubleheader with the UMaine Farmington Beavers. The Vikings fell 4–1 in a tightly contested first game, as the Beavers built an early lead and held off a late Salem State rally. Salem State came back strong in game two, putting together a dominant performance with timely hitting, strong pitching, and solid defense to secure a 12–0 victory in five innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 1)
The Salem State Vikings hosted the UMaine Farmington Beavers in a tightly contested game one, where strong pitching and solid defense defined much of the matchup early on.
Both teams came out sharp in the first inning, playing clean defense and keeping the scoreboard even at 0-0. The Beavers were the first to break through, plating a run in the second inning to take an early lead. They continued to build momentum with one run in each of the third and fourth innings, extending their lead to 3–0.
As the Beavers worked to extend their lead, the Vikings stayed within reach, continuing to battle at the plate but unable to find a breakthrough over the first four innings. The game remained a defensive battle in the fifth and sixth, with neither team able to push a run across."
In the top of the seventh, UMaine Farmington added an insurance run, stretching their lead to 4–0 heading into the final half-inning. The Vikings generated some late momentum in the bottom of the seventh inning finally breaking through for their first run and putting together a brief rally with runners on base. However, the Beavers held firm under pressure, limiting the damage to just one run.
In the end, the Beavers' steady offense and consistent defense carried them to a 4–1 victory, securing game one over the Vikings.

- Paige Souza would record 3 hits against the Beavers, going 4 for 3 at the plate in game one
- Samantha Gaona- Sullivan, Allision Frost and Emma Quinn would both have a hit in game one against the Beavers
HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 2)
In game two, it was all the Salem State Vikings as they powered their way to a dominant 12–0 victory over the UMaine Farmington Beavers in five innings. The Vikings took advantage of their opportunities early, capitalizing on walks to generate offense and put pressure on the Beavers' defense.
Salem State got on the board with a run in the first inning and added another in the third before breaking the game open in the fourth. The Vikings erupted for 10 runs in the inning, extending their lead to 12–0 heading into the fifth.
Defensively, the Vikings were just as impressive, combining strong pitching and clean fielding to keep the Beavers off the scoreboard. The Beavers were unable to find an offensive rhythm, as Salem State controlled the game from start to finish.
The Vikings closed it out in the fifth, securing the 12–0 win in five innings to split the series with the Beavers.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GM 2)
- Samantha Gaona- Sullivan, Tara Perryman, Alanis Toledano, Giana Johanson and Sula Roberge would all collect two RBIs to secure the win against the Beavers in game two.
- Ellie Kleinheinz, and Paige Souza would both collect an RBI in the win against the Beavers.
- Allison Frost would collect three stolen bases against the Beavers in game two.
- Samantha Gaona- Sullivan would have two stolen based against the Beavers.
