THE LEAD – The Salem State men's tennis team capped off its regular season with a 6-1 loss at RIC on Saturday afternoon in Providence.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIC took the doubles point after earning wins in the first three spots. Later in singles, Quentin Wilkins (Hamilton, Mass.) earned an impressive 4-6, 7(11)-6(9) victory in No. 1 singles in a hard-fought match-up.
- However, RIC ultimately secured the contest by winning the remaining singles matches on the day. Despite the Anchormen taking the match, Jesse Rubera (Haverhill, Mass.) gave a tough outing in the No. 5 singles, falling, 4-6, 2-6.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Wilkins has now won his last three singles contests, which puts him at 10-2 overall on the year.
- Salem has now finished the regular season with at least five wins in six of the last seven seasons (minus COVID-shortened years).

Salem kicks off Little East Conference postseason play as the No. 4 seed and will host No.5 seed WestConn on Tuesday, April 28, at a time to be determined.
