HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Wilkins helped even things back at one in singles action by taking the first spot, 7-6, 6-4 in a thriller. While the Beacons responded with a win at No. 2 singles, Ian Ronan (Quincy, Mass.) evened things back at two with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
  • However, the Beacons went on to win the next three singles matches and ultimately the match, 5-2.
