Wilkins and Ronan Highlight Weekly LEC Awards

LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE OFFICIAL RELEASE

SALEM, Mass. - The Salem State men's tennis team saw two of its student-athletes earn Little East Conference (LEC) weekly awards this week. Quentin Wilkins (Hamilton, Mass.) and Ian Ronan (Quincy, Mass.) were named LEC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. 

Wilkins had a strong week for Salem after going undefeated in both his singles and doubles matches last week. Against Albertus Magnus, he earned an 8-2 win in doubles while securing a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win in singles. Later in the week against WestConn, he grabbed a 6-2 doubles win and a 7-6 (10-5) victory in singles action.

Meanwhile, Ronan also had a solid showing for the Vikings, going undefeated in singles and doubles. In his doubles matchup at Albertus Magnus, Ronan earned an 8-2 win, and in singles, he had a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory. Against WestConn, he had a tough 7-6 (7-5) win and then had a hard-fought triumph in singles at 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. 

Coming up for the Vikings are two straight road contests starting on Wednesday, April 1, at Thomas at 4:00 p.m. and then at the University of New England on Thursday, April 2, at 1:00 p.m. The squad caps off the week with a LEC matchup hosting Vermont State Castleton on Saturday, April 4, at 3:00 p.m.
