THE LEAD – The Salem State men's tennis team kicked off the 2026 campaign with a road contest at Gordon College, where the squad fell, 7-0, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In doubles action, Gordon took the point by sweeping all three matchups. Quentin Wilkins (Hamilton, Mass.) and Mark Wood (Lynn, Mass.) made it a tough out in the lead-off doubles spot, but ultimately fell, 6-3.
• The Fighting Scots continued their momentum in singles, sweeping all six matchups against the Vikings, resulting in a 7-0 win.
• Wilkins battled to try and get the Blue and Orange a point, but unfortunately dropped a tough 2-6, 2-6 loss.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Saturday's match marked the 17th meeting between the two programs, with Gordon now winning the last seven contests.
• Ian Ronan (Quincy, Mass.), Jesse Rubero (Haverhill, Mass.), and Kaleb Jones (Hyannis, Mass.) all made their collegiate debuts Saturday.
