Athlete Spotlight: Omri Merryman
SALEM, Mass. -- This week's athlete spotlight features sophomore forward Omri Merryman (Lynn, Mass.), who was named MASCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, after averaging 25.5 points, shooting 50% (16-32) from the field, 43.8% (7-16) from beyond the arc, and 80% (12-15) from the free-throw line, while also grabbing 7.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Vikings. The sophomore scored 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three, and pulled down nine rebounds in a setback to Westfield State. He then followed up with a 30-point performance on 9-of-18 shooting, along with six rebounds, in a 74-69 win over Bridgewater State.
Can you talk about your performance this past week that led to your player of the week award?
We had two good games versus two good teams, and I did what I could to help put us in a winning position.
Are there any short-term goals you'd like to accomplish this season?
Make the first team [all-conference].
Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athlete?
Shooting.
What's the best piece of advice you've gained from your coaches?
Just believe in your work.

I like to lift.
