THE LEAD – The Salem State Vikings earned a hard-fought 4-3 win over the Lesley University Lynx Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Vikings picked up the doubles point as Madison Sartori (Amesbury, Mass.) and Kenzie McLaren (Lynn, Mass.) earned a 6-4 win in the No. 1 pairing, while Samantha Tenney (Danvers, Mass.) and Ryann Tripp (Wareham, Mass.) grabbed a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
  • Despite dropping the first two matches in singles, Samantha Bidzerkowny (Weelsville, N.Y.) got the Vikings back on track at No. 3 singles, 6-7, 6-1, 6-4.
  • Lesley would take the No. 4 singles matchup, but Salem closed the match out by having wins at No. 5 singles from Tripp (6-2, 6-3) and Delaney Cox (Spencer, Mass.) (6-3, 6-1).
