Vikings Sail Past Corsairs
SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State won two-out-of three doubles matches to secure a 5-4 Little East Conference win over UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings, who are now 7-3 on the season and 4-2 in conference, snap a three-game losing streak to the Corsairs. UMass Dartmouth slips to 6-7 overall and 3-4 in the league.
Madison Sartori / Kenzie McLaren and Abigail Laliberte / Erin Curristin teamed up to earn two points for Salem State at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Sartori / McLaren won 8-4 over Maddie Gonzalez / Emma Collings while Laliberte / Curristin defeated Zuri Walters / Saige Croce, 8-5. Ryann Tripp / Alanna Zaldivar battled at No. 3 doubles before losing a tiebreaker, 9-7 to Sofia Beltran / Lauren Burgess.
Sartori, clinched the decisive fifth point, picking up a win at No. 1 singles, 7-6(7-2), 6-3 while Laliberte won, 6-2, 6-3 over Beltran at No. 4 singles as the two teams spilt singles play, winning three matches apiece. Curristin beat Croce, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles for the Vikings.
