Vikings Slay Spartans on Senior Day

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State continued their winning ways with a 7-2 Little East victory on Senior Day over Vermont Castleton at The Central Campus Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon. Madison Sartori and Kenzie McLaren earned wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively to help the Vikings advance their record to 6-3 on the season and 3-2 in the LEC. The Spartans go to 4-8 and 1-6 in conference.

Before the match, Salem State honored seniors Abigail Laliberte (Gardner, Mass.), Erin Curristin (Dedham, Mass.) and Alanna Zaldivar (Beverly, Mass.) for their commitment and dedication to the tennis program.

Sartori defeated Stella Forte, 6-0, 6-4 and McLaren won 6-0, 6-2. The duo also combined for a win at No. 1 doubles, defeating Madelyn Nonni / Ginny Trevisan, 8-3. Abigail Laliberte earned a shutout at No. 4 singles, beating Sophia Hussak, 6-0, 6-0 and Erin Curristin won at No. 5 singles agianst Olivia Rutkowski, 6-0, 6-2.

Laliberte and Curristin scored an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles and Ryann Tripp / Alanna Zaldivar completed the sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
