Bridgewater State Beats Salem State 9-0
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State defeated Salem State, 9-0 in a Little East Conference (LEC) match on Wednesday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts. The Bears improve to 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in the Little East, while the Vikings fall to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Bridgewater State took a 3-0 lead, dominating doubles play. Madeline Von Ruden / Mackenzie Silveira bested Madison Sartori / Kenzie McLaren at No.1 doubles while Aislyn Kelliher / Morgan Smith won, 8-2 over Abigail Laliberte / Erin Curristin at No. 2 doubles. Meghan Lotti / Samantha Bettencourt shutout Ryann Tripp / Alanna Bonneau, 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Von Ruden claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Santori at No. 1 singles and Silveira topped McLaren, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. The Bears won all six singles matches in straight sets, which included Pothier and Bettencourt sweeping No. 5 and No. 6 singles by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
