2024 Women's Tennis Preview

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State women's tennis was picked 7th by the coaches in the Little East Women's Tennis Pre-Season Poll, which was released on Thursday, August 22. The Vikings, who finished 9th last season received (16) points. Defending champion UMass Boston claimed the top spot with 64 points and eight first-place votes, while Rhode Island College garnered 57 points and one first place vote.

Season Outlook

Salem State finished 0-12 in 2023, sliding to a 9th place finish, which included an 0-8 conference mark. Co-captain Abigail Laliberte (Gardner, Mass.) returns after playing in only four matches a season ago due to injury and along with co-capatin Erin Curristin (Dedham, Mass.), who posted a 5-7 mark last year, look to bolster a squad that will feature newcomer and No.1 singles player Madison Sartori (Amesbury, Mass.), who transferred from Suffolk University.

Coach's Take

Our expectations are bringing competitivness back to the team and to work harder toward our goal of making the playoffs. Abbie is returning as team captain, and she was important to the team, but she didn't get to play due to an injury last season. We are also adding a great player from Suffolk University, who played no.1 singles in high school (Madison Sartori). This is the final season for my captains, and we want to ensure that we will be making a playoff run and build a winning mindset for the future.

Season Opener

Salem State opens the season on the road, September 4 against Simmons @ 3:30 PM.
