HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Salem wasted no time scoring nearly two minutes into the contest (13:32) when Hannah Cochran (Marshfield, Mass.) took advantage of a free position attempt and rifled her shot past Gordon goalie Kayla Davidson for a quick 1-0 lead.
  • Nearly halfway through the frame, the Vikes tacked on another goal courtesy of Laura Young (Leominster, Mass.) after the squad recorded a successful clear attempt. Young and Siobhan Smith (Peabody, Mass.) added two more goals toward the end of the quarter and the squad took a 4-0 lead going into the second.
  • In the second, it was all Salem as the Blue and Orange found the back of the net six more times and pushed its lead to 10-0 going in the half. Kaylee Rich (Danvers, Mass.) highlighted the scoring for Salem by potting three goals in the quarter.
  • The Vikes continued their offensive momentum going into the third as the squad tacked on three more goals thanks to Smith, Aislinn Bennett (Milford, Mass.), and Olivia Tednes (Elk Grove Village, Ill.)
  • Going into the fourth, up 13-0, Salem continued to push its lead, and with goals by Bennett and Addie McAughey (West Bend, Wisc.), the Vikings ultimately topped Gordon, 15-0.
