Athlete Spotlight: James Tatro
SALEM, Mass. -- This week's athlete spotlight features freshman men's ice hockey player James Tatro (Fr., F, Salisbury, Mass.), who was recently named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Rookie of the Week after totaling four points for in a 1-1 week for the Vikings, tallying an assist in a 2-1 setback to Fitchburg State while earning a hat-trick in a 6-2 victory over Rivier.
Can you talk about your performance that led to your rookie of the week award?
My teammates and linemates were the biggest reason I had success. They fed me the puck and made plays to find me in the open areas.
Are there any short-term goals you'd like to accomplish this season?
To win the MASCAC.
Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athlete?
Vite, Vite, Vite
Is there a coach/athlete or someone outside of sports that you look up to as a role model?
My dad.
What's the best piece of advice you've gained from your coaches?
To continue working hard even if things aren't going my way.
How would your coaches and teammates describe you?
Very energetic, talkative and outgoing.
Is there an interesting fact that most people don't know about you?
I put my gear on left to right for superstition.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?
I enjoy playing golf in the summer.
