New England College Blanks Salem State 5-0

HENNIKER, N.H. Sean Cleary made 48 saves, but New England College downed Salem State in nonconference action, 5-0 on Tuesday evening. The Pilgrims have extended their unbeaten streak to 12, which ties the longest single season unbeaten streak. With the win, the Pilgrims improve to 12-3-4 overall with a 6-3-4 record in the NEHC. The Vikings will fall to 5-12-1 overall with a 4-7-0 record in the MASCAC.    

For most of the first period, the teams traded chances but nothing found the back net. With just under three minutes left in the period, the Pilgrims got on the board first. Adam Zollner brought the puck in over the attacking blue line and dished a pass to Connor Inger in the slot. Inger held his shot and passed to Channing Gorscak who was sitting on the doorstep and pushed the puck passed the Viking goaltender for his second goal of the season.

The Pilgrims added a tally early in the second period after William Riise forced a turnover and dished a pass to the slot for Daniel Bergqvist who found the back of the net to give the Pilgrims a 2-0 lead. The Pilgrims fired 29 shots in the third period, three of which found the back of the goal. Gorscak finished with two goals in the contest while Inger finished with three assists.

Spencer Kozlowski made 31 saves in the shutout win. He is 2-0-0 on the season with two shutouts.
