Men's Golf Finishes in Top Five at NEIGA Men's Golf Championship

THE LEAD – The Salem State University Men's Golf team capped off the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Men's Golf Championship with a fifth-place finish at 615 (+39) on Sunday at the Captains Golf Course. On the final day, the Vikings carded a 306 (+18).
SALEM STATE HIGHLIGHTS
- Patrick Cotter (Melrose, Mass.) led the Vikings on the final day with a 73 (+1), which was good for an 18th-place finish. Cotter highlighted the final day with three birdies on Sunday. Not far behind Cotter was Matt Tramonte (Tewksbury, Mass.) with a 23rd-place finish at 76 (+4). Tramonte also notched three birdies in the final round for the Vikes.
- Michael Murphy (Orlando, Fla.) and Joe Orlando (Gloucester, Mass.) finished just outside the top-30 in a tie for 31st place at 78 (+6) on the final day. Murphy highlighted his final day of action when he carded an eagle on the sixth hole. Meanwhile, Orlando had a stretch where he closed out the front nine with four straight pars.
- Rounding out the list of Vikings on the leaderboard were Anthony Choukas (Weymouth, Mass.) with an 85th place finish by carding an 88 (+16) on the final day, whereas Ryan Sinnott (Brockton, Mass.) had an 108th place finish at 93 (+21). Choukas and Sinnott each notched an eagle on the final day for the Blue and Orange.
OTHER RESULTS
- Hartford took the top spot with a 598 (+22) while Western New England came in second at 600 (+24). Rounding out the top five were Endictt in third at 605 (+29), Southern Maine in fourth at 614 (+38), and Salem.
- For the individual leaders, Derek Johnson of Western New England grabbed the top spot with a 144 (E).
