Men's Golf Comes in 10th at Skidmore Invitational

THE LEAD – The Salem State University men's golf team wrapped up its time in Maine at the Bowdoin Invitational with 10th place by posting a total team score of 907. Overall, on the final day, the squad scored 300.
SALEM STATE HIGHLIGHTS
- Matt Tramonte (Tewksbury, Mass.) led the Vikings on the final day with a 19th-place finish, carding a 73 (+1) in the final round for an overall score of 220. In the final round, he notched three birdies.
- Capping off the top-50 for Salem were Joe Orlando (Gloucester, Mass.) and Michael Murphy (Orlando, Fla.), who ended the day at 229 (+13) in a tie for 46th. Both student-athletes ended the final round with a score of 75 (+3). Murphy had a strong final round for Salem, though, as the junior had four birdies Sunday.
- Not far behind was Patrick Cotter (Melrose, Mass.), who ended the day in 53rd place with a final score of 230 (+14) and a final round score of 78 (+6). Rounding out the leaderboard for Salem was Anthony Choukas (Weymouth, Mass.), who finished the day in 77th place at 238 (+22) and a round score of 78 (+6).
OTHER RESULTS
- Amherst won the Invitational with a score of 864 (E), followed by Trinity at 869 (+5). Capping off the top five were Skidmore at 874 (+10), New York University at 884 (+20), and finally, Bowdoin at 886 (+22). Individually, Derek Johnson of Western New England grabbed the top spot at 211 (-5).

- Salem will be back in action next Saturday, October 18, when the squad heads to the 90th New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship in Brewster, Mass.
