Men's Golf Wraps Up Day One at Skidmore Invitational

THE LEAD – The Salem State University men's golf team wrapped up its time in Maine at the Skidmore Invitational with 13th place by posting a total team score of 606.
SALEM STATE HIGHLIGHTS
- Matt Tramonte (Tewksbury, Mass.) led the Vikings on the first day by earning a 147 (+3) for 19th place through the first two rounds Saturday. In the first round, he posted a score of 74 (+2) and posted three birdies on the round. Meanwhile, in the second, he carded a score of 73 (+1) while also having three more birdies.
- Patrick Cotter (Melrose, Mass.) capped off the top-50 for Salem by posting a score of 152 (+8) for 41st place. During the opening round, he posted a score of 75 (+3), which featured three birdies. In the second round, he ended with a 76 (+3), highlighted by back-to-back birdies on the last two holes.
- Tied at 54th were both Joe Orlando (Gloucester, Mass.) and Michael Murphy (Orlando, Fla.), who ended the day at 154 (+10). Orlando and Murphy both notched two birdies in both rounds Saturday.
- Rounding out the leaderboard for Salem was Anthony Choukas (Weymouth, Mass.), who finished the day in 83rd place at 161 (+17). In the opening round, Choukas posted a birdie on the sixth hole for the squad.
OTHER RESULTS
- Amherst currently leads all schools after the first day at 578 (+2) followed by Trinity at 582 (+6). Rounding out the top five are Williams College at 586 (+10), and New York University and Skidmore, tied for fourth at 588 (+12).
