Men's Golf Wraps Up Day One at Bowdoin Invitatioanal

THE LEAD – The Salem State University Men's Golf team returned to action as the squad posted a 315 (+27) in the first round of the Bowdoin Invitational Saturday afternoon.
SALEM STATE HIGHLIGHTS
- Matt Tramonte (Tewksbury, Mass.) led the Vikings in the opening round with a 12th-place finish, posting a score of 74 (+2). Throughout the first 11 holes, Tramonte recorded a par on each of the courses.
- Patrick Cotter (Melrose, Mass.) rounded out the top-50 for Salem, coming in 48th-place with a score of 79 (+7). During his opening round, Cotter recorded two birdies, one in the front nine and another in the back nine.
- Anthony Choukas (Weymouth, Mass.) and Joe Orlando (Gloucester, Mass.) both checked in at a tie for 69th place at 81 (+9). Michael Murphy (Orlando, Fla.) capped off the list of Vikings with a 79th-place finish at 82 (+10).
OTHER RESULTS
- After the first day of action, Amherst leads all schools with a score of 294 (+6), followed by Bowdoin in second at 298 (+8). Rounding out the top five are Williams College and Tufts, tied for third, followed by St. Lawrence and Drew, tied for fifth.
- For the individual leaders, Derek Johnson of Western New England, Henry Mariscal of Bowdoin, Sam Dolan of Drew, and Jack Estrella of Williams, are all tied for first after round one with a score of 71 (-1).
