Tramonte Recognized as MASCAC Men’s Golf Player of the Year; Cotter Named to All-Conference Second Team

SALEM, Mass. - After already earning MASCAC Men's Golfer Athlete of the Week, Matt Tramonte (Tewksbury, Mass.) capped off his week by being named the MASCAC Men's Golf Player of the Year. Along with being named Men's Golfer Athlete of the Year, Tramonte earned All-Conference First Team honors. Joining Tramonte in the MASCAC postseason honors, Patrick Cotter (Melrose, Mass.) was named to All-Conference Second Team. 

The Sophomore had a stellar week for the Vikings at the MASCAC Championship, where he led the Vikings with an opening-round score of 78 (+6) and ended the first day in third place. During the first day, Tramonte had a six-hole stretch where he recorded par for each hole. On the final day, he had a second round score of 75 (+3). During the second day, he notched three birdies and finished the tournament with an overall score of 153 (+9), which earned him the Individual Championship last weekend. Tramonte has also notched a third-place finish at the New England College Invitational earlier this year with a score of 76 (+4).

Cotter has also had a strong year so far with Salem. Last weekend at the MASCAC Championship, the junior opened the match with an 80 (+8), and in the front nine, Cotter notched two birdies for Salem. On the final day, he finished in seventh place at 78 (+6) and also recorded two birdies on the day for Salem. He also had a solid performance at the New England Invitational earlier this month, where he finished seventh with a score of 78 (+6). 

Salem State returns to action Saturday, September 27, at the Bowdoin Invitational at a time to be determined.
