Men's Golf Shines at New England College Invitational

THE LEAD – Salem State junior Michael Murphy (Orlando, Fla.) earned the top spot carding a 75 (+3), which led the Vikings to a first-place team showing on Sunday afternoon at the New England College Invitational.
SALEM STATE HIGHLIGHTS
- Murphy topped the field of 27 individual golfers with a 75 (+3) on the day. For Murphy, Sunday's individual win marked the first time in his career that he finished atop the leaderboard.
- Not far behind Murphy were Matt Tramonte (Tewksbury, Mass.), who finished with a 76 (+4) in third, and Patrick Cotter (Melrose, Mass.), who had a 78 (+6) for a seventh-place finish to help Salem round out the top 10.
- The Vikings' other two lone golfers on Sunday saw Anthony Choukas (Weymouth, Mass.) and Trevor Thompson both tied for 15th with scores of 82 (+10)
OTHER RESULTS
- Coming in second was Southern Maine, who ended the day with 314 (+26), followed by New England College at 315 (+27), Keene State at 316 (+28), and Worcester State at 349 (+61) to round out the top five.

- Salem is back in action next weekend when the squad takes part in the Duke Nelson Invitational in Middlebury, Vt. with first round action starting on Saturday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m.
