Athlete Spotlight: Danny DiLisio
SALEM, Mass. -- This week's athlete spotlight features Danny DiLisio (Swampscott, Mass.), who led Salem State to its third MASCAC title in four years after posting an even 71 on day two after recording a 72 on the opening day of the tournament to card a +1, 143 to finish runner-up at the 2024 MASCAC Golf Championship.
Can you talk about your performance this past week that helped Salem State claim its third MASCAC title in four years?
"Every year I have been at Salem State this has always been the week that mattered the most to our team, I just knew that I had to bring my "A" game and help the team win MASCAC's. I just went out and played confident. My only goal was to help get us to nationals."
You have been a strong performer for four years, what would you like to accomplish that you have not yet been able to?
"I would like to get a win, I feel like my game has been trending in the right direction each year; it would be cool."
Are there goals you'd like to accomplish once your collegiate career ends?
"I think the one goal I have now is to find a job that I love and make a living."
Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athlete?
"My biggest strength is my mentality. I struggled with it for a long time, I was not very confident, but over the last year I feel like I found it."
What's the best piece of advice you've gained from your coaches?
"You can't let perfect be the enemy of good, it just means that you can't prioritize perfection because it wont let you make any progress."
Is there an interesting fact that most people don't know about you?
"I am a big UFC [Ultimate Fighting Championship] fan."
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?
"I really like fishing."
