Morey and Mosley Earn MASCAC All-Conference Honors
SALEM, Mass. - The Salem State field hockey team saw Grace Morey (Danvers, Mass.) and Izzy Mosley (Middleborough, Mass.) earn spots on the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference Second Team as announced by the organization on Wednesday.
Morey earned her second career All-Conference honor after having a strong year for the Vikings. She was one of three members of the team to finish with at least five goals (five) and also scored one game-winner this year. Her strongest performance this year came in a 6-3 win versus Anna Maria College (Sept. 16), where she scored her first career hat trick, with one of the scores being the eventual game-winner. She ended the year scoring in two of the last three games, which included the Vikings' playoff matchup at Worcester State. Morey also tied her career-high in assists this season with five, highlighted by a two-assist performance in a 3-0 win at Anna Maria (Oct. 11).
Mosley also earned her second career All-Conference honor from the MASCAC after leading the Vikes in net all season. The junior goalie logged a total of 1027:04 while posting a goals against average of 4.03 after allowing 69 goals. She ended up making 193 saves (11.35 saves per game) to go along with a .737 save percentage. Mosley also recorded one shutout this season in a 3-0 win at Anna Maria College (Oct. 11) when she stopped 10 shots. In the MASCAC, she ranked within the top five of multiple goalie categories, including saves (third) and save percentage (fifth). She was also a MASCAC Goalie of the Week earlier this season for Salem.
At the end of the year, Salem finished with a 5-12 overall record, going 3-9 in conference play. The Vikings have now finished the regular season with at least five wins in two of the last three seasons. Salem also saw seven different goal scorers this season.
