Salem State Tops Framingham State 6-3
SALEM, Mass. -- Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh, pinch-hitter Brayden Michaelson hit a game-tying two-run home run, as Salem State rallied for five runs in the final two innings to defeat Framingham State 6-3 at The Central Campus Baseball Field on Tuesday. The Vikings improve to 9-12 and 5-5 in the MASCAC while the Rams slide to 5-19 and 3-6.
How It Happened:
Nolan Currier started on the mound for Salem State and pitched six innings, allowing two first inning runs while yielding seven hits with four strikeouts. Brandon McMahon (1-0) picked up the win in an inning of relief work while Jake Boucher earned his third save. Connor Dolan was 2-for-4 with a run and Ryan Bourgeois added a clutch two-run double and scored two runs.
Nicholas Kutcher started for Framingham State and lasted two innings, giving up a run and three hits. Keith Ramsey (0-3) suffered the loss as the Rams used four pitcher in the game. Ramsey allowed a run on two hits. Christian Cox was 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and a run.
- Cox hit a two-run home run in the first to give Framingham State a 2-0 lead.
- Owen Duggan singled to left center, cutting the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning.
- The game remained scoreless until Massimo Mondi's RBI single to left put the Rams on top, 3-1 in the seventh.
- Following an error, Michaelson launched a two-run home run to deep left for his first home run of the year to tie the game in the bottom of the inning.
- Salem State went ahead in the eighth, scoring three times, with Bourgeois getting a key hit, a two-run double inside the right field line that put Salem State ahead to stay. Later a balk brought home Bourgeois with the Vikings' sixth run.
