Salem State Draws Adrian in NCAA Regional Opener
SALEM, Mass. – The Salem State baseball team will head to Wisconsin-Whitewater for the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament, which will begin this Thursday, May 27. The Vikings (13-8), the MASCAC champions, drew top seed #11 Adrian (Mich.), winners of the MIAA Conference, who hold a 32-7 record. Salem State is appearing in their seventh NCAA Tournament and first since 2016.
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will host the six-team Whitewater, Wisconsin Regional as the second seed at James B. Miller Stadium.
Salem State will play in the opening game at 11:00 am (CDT) on Thursday. The Warhawks will face No. 5 seed Luther (Iowa) in game two while No. 3 Texas Lutheran will play against No. 4 Penn State Harrisburg in the third regional game. The losers of game one and two will play in the final game of the day at 6:00 pm.
48 teams will compete in the 2021 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. Six teams will compete at eight regional sites. All regionals will use a double-elimination format. Forty two conference champions qualified automatically and six-at large teams.
Winners of the eight regional tournaments will qualify for the pool play double-elimination championship at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Friday-Tuesday/Wednesday, June 4-8/9, 2021.
