Giannino was a four-year starter at third base for the baseball program. He batted over .400 for the Vikings each season. He was a two time All-New England selection who earned first team All New England and first team All-MASCAC honors his senior year when he batted .430. Giannino was SSC’s MVP and served as a co-captain for the 1978 team that played in the ECAC playoffs.
Giannino, who represented SSC in the all divisions New England College All Star Game as a senior, batted .476 with eight homeruns as a junior. He stroked four homers, including a grand slam, and knocked in ten runs in SSC’s doubleheader sweep of SouthEastern Mass. University during his junior year.
A native of Everett, Giannino was the 1977 and 1978 MASCAC batting champion who produced a .425 batting average as a sophomore and hit .419 as a freshman.
