Brewster, Mass. - Eric Powers shot a two-round score of 159 (79, 80) to tie for 27th place to help Salem State earn an 11th place finish at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships at The Captain's Course. Reid Buzby of Middlebury won medalist honors, shooting par on day two with a 72 after an opening round score of 73.
WATERBURY, Vt. - Salem State finished third at the 2018 North Atlantic Championship this weekend hosted by the Country Club of Vermont. The Vikings recorded a two-round total of 624 (311, 323), finishing behind champion Husson 619 (307, 312) and runner-up SUNY Delhi - 622 (318, 304).
Salem State earned 94 points and was selected to repeat as runner up at the 2018 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Golf Championship. Earning 120 points and 10 first place votes in the prechampionship poll is favorite Husson, who is poised to earn their 14th North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Golf Championship title in 16 years, and fourth in a row. UMaine-Farmington was picked third (74) and Maine Maritime Academy was just behind in fourth place with 73 points and the final first place vote.
SUTTON, Mass. - Salem State’s Eric Powers finished as co-medalist at the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship at Blackstone National Golf Club on Tuesday. Powers shot a 77 to finish five-over par, tying Westfield State’s Matteo Kodek. The Vikings finished runner-up to the Owls, who won the tie-breaker after each team finished with a score of 319.
Williamstown, MA - Salem State finished 13th at the 2018 Williams College Invitational Tournament this past weekend. The event was played, at the par-71 Taconic Golf Club where Eric Powers (Danvers, Mass.) led the Vikings, tying for 23rd place with a two-day 154 (77, 77 +12). Salem State scored 643 (317, 326 +75) as a team to finish behind team- champion Williams, 588 (296, 292 +20). Sam Goldenring of Williams took medalist honors, with a score of 140, (39, 71 -2).
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Salem State started the 2018 season with a solid showing at the 35th annual Duke Nelson Tournament hosted by Middlebury College. The Vikings, who were paced by Justin Serowik, finished ninth among the 22-team field. Williams College won the event with a 584 team-score, four strokes ahead of runner-up Trinity College. Salem State finished the two-event with a team-score of 607.
SALEM, MASS. -- 75 former teammates, coaches, players and friends came together to celebrate the career of Salem State golf coach Steve Campbell’ 72 at the Beverly Golf & Tennis Club on Thursday, September 6.
SALEM, MASS. -- Salem State Athletics is pleased to announce that assistant men's golf coach Kevin Daly '91 has been promoted to the position of head coach. Daly is replacing veteran head coach Steve Campbell '72, who has led the team since 2002. Campbell will remain with the golf program as an assistant coach.
