Warriors Take Out Salem State 10-7

Salem, MA – Michael Sullinger (Brookfield, CT) recorded a game-high four points for the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors in their 10-7 victory over the Salem State Vikings at Alumni Field on Saturday night. 

This matchup was the regular season finale for both teams. Salem State wrapped up the season at 9-7 and 3-4 in the Little East Conference. ECSU finished 11-4 and 6-1 in the LEC. Both teams have qualified for the upcoming conference tournament.

The Warriors kept the pressure on during the first half. Vasil’s 6-for-8 faceoff totals gave ECSU momentum from the draw. The Warriors scored five straight goals to take a 6-1 lead at the half.
However Coach Eaton’s Salem State squad rebounded after halftime to score six total goals. Four of those goals remained unanswered until Bolivar scored his second at the 7:04 mark of the fourth quarter.
Donald Berube (Tewksbury, MA) made eight saves on fifteen shots in his sixty minutes in net for the Warriors. Salem State Goaltender Brendan Gill (Chelmsford, MA) was 12-for-22.

Sullinger, Salieu Bolivar (Norwalk, CT), and Maxim Fantl (West Hartford, CT) each scored two goals in the winning effort. Eric Vasil (Southington, CT), Michael Glennon (Walpole, MA), Vinny Tornatore (Norwalk, CT) and Brian Fechtmann (Levittown, NY) each contributed with a goal.

Viking midfielder Kyle Dolan (North Andover, MA) led the Viking scoring effort with three goals. Jonathan Falls (Seekonk, MA) scored two goals, Robert Mulroy (Swampscott, MA) Justin Jones (Danvers, MA), Tucker Davis (Pittsfield, MA) netted one goal each.

The Salem State Vikings are scheduled to face off against the Western Connecticut University Colonials in a Little East Conference first round matchup.
