Danielle Jenkins Named MASCAC Player of the Year - Wilson, Wilkins Earn Second Team Honors

Buzzards Bay, Mass. — Salem State College senior forward Danielle Jenkins has been named as the 2009-10 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year and heads the league’s all-conference squad in a vote taken of the conference’s seven coaches.
 
A native of Marlboro, Mass., Jenkins led the league in scoring at 18 points per game while adding 7.3 rebounds per contest during the regular season, as the three-time conference Player of the Week led the Vikings to an 18-7 regular season mark and a second place finish in league play that featured nine MASCAC triumphs. 

MCLA freshman guard Lucy Tremblay (East Greenbush, N.Y.) was tabbed as the 2009-10 MASCAC Rookie of the Year after averaging 12.5 points per game during her inaugural collegiate campaign, while Bridgewater State College’s Bridgett Casey was recognized by her peers as the 2009-10 MASCAC Coach of the Year after leading the Bears to the MASCAC regular season crown with a 10-2 league slate to go with 14 overall victories. 

Jenkins was joined on the 2009-10 MASCAC first-team all-conference squad by Bridgewater State’s Brittney Chappron and Shelly DePina, Fitchburg State’s Melissa Proffitt and MCLA’s Jen Wehner.
The 2009-10 MASCAC second-team all-conference squad consisted of Westfield State’s Ashley Finnegan, Worcester State’s Kaleigh Charette, Framingham State’s Toya Chester and Salem State’s Brianna Wilson and Jakoya Wilkins.
