Vikings skate away to 4-2 win over Fitchburg State

Fitchburg, MA -- Casey Terreri scored a goal and added two assists as the Salem State Vikings scored a huge conference road win over the first place Fitchburg State Falcons, 4-2.

Salem State improved to 10-8-3 and 9-3-3 in the MASCAC, while Fitchburg state fell to 15-4-1 and 11-3 in conference.

The Vikings picked up an important two points to close to within one point of first place Fitchburg State.

Terreri, who is second on the team in points with 19 points , picked up his team-leading 11th and 12 assists in the win.

Nick Lampson gave the visitors an early 1-0 lead as Terreri and Kevin Hughes assisted on the goal at 8:50 of the first period.

Each team tallied two goals in the second frame as Chris MacInnis on an assist from Terreri, and Chad Johnson both scored to keep the Vikings in front by one goal at 3-2 at the end of  two periods.

Terreri increased the lead to 4-2 with his seventh goal of the season three minutes into the third period on assists by Dan Smolinsky and San Cannata.  Goalie Sam Avoine made that lead stand up as he turned away 24 shots to pick up the victory.
