Lady Vikings Shutout Newbury College 3-0
Chapa
Junior Rebecca Chapa had 11 kills in Salem State's 3-0 victory over Newbury College.
Salem, MA – Junior outside hitter Rebecca Chapa (Westford, MA/ Westford Academy) had 11 kills for Salem State to lead the Lady Vikings past Newbury College, 3-0.

Chapa set the tone in the first game as the Lady Vikings took an early lead in game one with a 25-17 victory. Salem State completed the sweep winning game two 25-14, and game three 25-23.

Sophomore Brittany Roscoe (Lowell, MA/ Lowell High) had 10 kills, while sophomore setter Jazmin Barrows (New Bedford, MA/ New Bedford High) had 18 assists.

The Nighthawks were led by their junior co-captain Kerri McAuley (Middleboro, MA/ Sacred Heart) who gave a great effort in the middle of the floor.

Salem State is now (4-8 overall) and have won 3 of their last 5 contests.

The Lady Vikings next match is scheduled for Saturday September 19th when the team travels to play the Lady Owls of Westfield State College for a 1:00pm MASCAC contest.

Katelynn Fanning, (So., P, East Boston, Mass.) -- Posted 3-0 mark with 1.29 ERA and fanned 27 in 4-0 week for regular season co-champion Vikings, including five-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in 9-0 triumph at Framingham State.

 Jess Baird, (Sr., OF, Worcester, Mass.) -- Batted .429 (6-14) with double, triple, home run and four runs scored in 4-0 week for regular season co-champion Vikings, including key round-tripper in 7-5 victory at Framingham State.
