All-MASCAC Soccer Teams Announced

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - The Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference announced their 2009 all-conference men's and women's soccer teams on Wednesday morning. Nine Salem State players were honored with selection to either the first or second teams.

Salem State midfielders Raphael Santos and David Miller were first-team all-conference picks, while the women placed midfielder Erin O’Brien and backer Taylor Orlando on the all-league first team.

Forwards Andrew Angus and Jared Barbosa highlight the second-team nominations on the men's side, while forward Jackie Gauthier, sweeper Cathy Greenough and forward Karly Henderson were selected to the second-team all-conference women's team. 

Framingham State College forward Jason Silva and Westfield State College forward Meg Gearin were named as the 2009 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Soccer Players of the Year.

Senior Danielle Jenkins from Marlborough, Massachusetts
 
- A four-year starter for the Salem State women’s basketball program.
      - Named co-captain in both her junior  
      and senior years.
- Finished her career as the school’s second all-time leading scorer with 1664 points.
- Was the team’s leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker the past three years.
- Named the 2010 MASCAC women’s basketball player of the year.
- A Three-time first team ALL-MASCAC selection.
- Named to the 2010 All-New England women’s basketball second team.
- She finished her career as one of the greatest all-round player s in Salem State’s history.

Senior Jeff Santora from Millbury, Massachusetts
 
- A four-year starter for the Salem State golf program.
      - Named co-captain in both his junior and senior years.
- Named an NCAA All-American in 2009.
- Was recognized as one of the top 25 golfers in the country by the NCAA.
- Has won individual championships at six collegiate tournaments
- Won the 2009 Guy Tedesco Award as the top collegiate golfer in New England.
 - A Dean’s List student who carries a 3.3 grade point average in Business Administration.
- Has provided countless hours to junior golf programs as both a mentor and instructor.
- 2010 NCAA All-American Scholar nominee
- 2010 NCAA All-American Golf nominee
