Lay Vikings Compete at NCAA New England Regional Championships
women's cross country
CUMBERLAND, Maine -- The Salem State Lady Vikings ended their season at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Women's Cross Country Championships at the Twin Brook Recreation Center in Cumberland, Maine.

Salem State finished 35th overall out of 47 teams.

Here are the highlights:

Team/Overall Finish
1 148 Taylor Krajewski 25:20.8 (Set a personal best for 6000m. 8th fastest MASCAC runner of the day)
2 176 Jennifer Fuller 25:55.3 (Had a solid season, personal best for 6000m)
3 178 Becca Montano 25:56.2 (A freshman this year, Becca is going to be a major factor in the future of SSC XC)
4 216 Shawna Kennedy 26:45.3 (senior, Shawna's leadership and positive attitude will be missed)
5 248 Janeen Rahman 27:27.1 (senior, Janeen had a few set backs this year but made a very good come back when the team needed her.
6 (273) Theresa Cote 28:21.6

Notes: The team ran well this year, but the flu got the best of more than half the team at the end of the season. They managed to pull off some great times for this last race but one can only wonder if they would have run faster if they did not lose a week of training because of sickness. The top three will be back for the 2010 cross country season, but losing seniors Kennedy and Rahman will weaken the team. The top three will be a strong force at MASCAC's next year and Cote has improved from last year despite some lingering leg injuries this year.
