Suffolk Takes 3-1 Decision Over Salem State

Volleyball falls to Suffolk University, 3-1.
(Salem, MA) – The Salem State Lady Vikings dropped a 3-1 decision to the Suffolk University Rams in women’s volleyball on Thursday night. The Lady Vikings dropped the first two games, 25-13 and, 25-21 before winning the third set 25-17. The Rams however, prevailed in game four, 25-6 to earn their sixth win of the season. 

Rebecca Chapa (Westford, Mass.) again paced the Lady Vikings with 10 kills, 30 digs, and three assists. Colleen Harrold (Pelham, Mass.) had a good game for Salem State by contributing 11 assists and 14 digs. 

Freshman Stella Gutierrez (Salem, Mass.) had four blocks for the Lady Vikings, which fell to 5-16 on the year. 

Salem State will participate in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, October 10th beginning at 11:00 AM.

Katelynn Fanning, (So., P, East Boston, Mass.) -- Posted 3-0 mark with 1.29 ERA and fanned 27 in 4-0 week for regular season co-champion Vikings, including five-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in 9-0 triumph at Framingham State.

Softball

 Jess Baird, (Sr., OF, Worcester, Mass.) -- Batted .429 (6-14) with double, triple, home run and four runs scored in 4-0 week for regular season co-champion Vikings, including key round-tripper in 7-5 victory at Framingham State.
